[this is good]
One of my favorites as well. This song is forever ingrained in my memory due to a camping trip.

A few years ago kay and I went up to the far northern coast of CA with pb and his brother-in-law. We had to go through miles of muddy roads to get to this really remote campsite. It was near the ocean, so it was cool in the summer, but so hard to get to that it was quiet and serene. We brought lots of firewood, wine, and food with us to enjoy the tranquility.

Soon after we set up camp, some chuckleheads set up camp next to us complete with a tiny yapper poodle that they'd yell at, Two (2) All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), and one giant boombox that they'd play metal tapes on.

After three days of hearing them shout the dog's name, warming up their ATVs at 6am, and rocking out past midnight, we were ready to go home. We decided the night before and packed up as soon as we woke around 6:05 (since they woke us up again at 6).

As we were getting ready to pull out, I knew I had to out-rock them at 6:30am. I found the sloan tracks, picked this song and rolled down all the windows while cranking up the bass on my 10" amplified subwoofer.

I waited until the song's intro was over before I pulled out of our campsite and crawled slowly past the chuckleheads with the volume cranked to 11.
Amen Reverend Mann! Can I have a Hallelujah!

I should start this statement by saying I am from Canada, so I might be a little, wee (Wii) bit biased, but Sloan might be the tightest, bestest, most superfabuloso band ever! I can still remember the intense shift in musical ideals that their "Smeared" album caused me while in high school. I have fond memories of sitting in The Spoke (the old Spoke) at the University of Western Ontario, on the day that "Twice Removed" came out, listening to the entire album in the bar. I personally spun "One Chord To Another" and "Navy Blues" every day for 7 days after they came out, while I worked in an indy CD store, in London, Ontario, Canada, until my coworkers hid them. And the beat goes on (recently I managed to blow a speaker in a van, listening to the most recent album "Never Hear The End of It", and it's not exactly their loudest album). Money City Maniacs is an incredible song, a wonderfully artful video, and frankly, my number 3 fave Sloan song (behind only "Underwhelmed" because of it's sonic abrasion, and playful wording (plus the use of the East Coast reference to "The LC" which would be the place to buy alcohol, when in Nova Scotia), and probably "Penpals" from Twice Removed, because it's just such a good representation of overseas communication). It does my heart good to know that Canadian Rock is appreciated by yourself Merlin. I'm glad that it's reach at least gets to the SanFran area. Good choice!
